Grade 7 islamic religious education HADITH – Selected Hadith Notes
Selected Hadith
Topic: HADITH — Islamic Religious Education (Age: 12)
Arabic: إِنَّمَا الْأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَّاتِ وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مَا نَوَى
Translation (simple): “Actions are judged by intentions. Everyone will get the result of what they intended.” (Sahih al-Bukhari & Muslim)
Short meaning: What matters most is why you do something — to please Allah, to help people, or just to show off. The reason (intention) makes the action good or not.
- Deduce the lessons learned from the selected Hadith for character building.
- Assess the relevance of the selected Hadith in the life of a Muslim in Kenya.
- Practice the teachings from the selected Hadith in daily life.
- Appreciate Hadith as the second source of Islamic law and spiritual guidance.
- Sincerity (Ikhlas): Do good deeds to please Allah, not to show off.
- Honesty: Be truthful about your intentions and actions.
- Responsibility: Know why you act — this helps you choose right actions.
- Humility: Serve others without seeking praise.
- Self-reflection: Check your heart before and after doing something.
This Hadith helps Muslims in Kenya make good choices every day:
- School: Study to gain knowledge and please Allah, not only to get praise or cheat.
- Home: Help with chores (fetch water, cook, clean) sincerely as an act of worship.
- Community: Join Harambee or mosque work with the intention to help others, not to be seen.
- Charity: Give sadaqah quietly and sincerely for those in need.
- Sports & clubs: Play fairly and with good intentions, not just to boast.
- Make a small intention before actions: before studying, praying, helping, or giving — say quietly: “I do this for Allah.”
- Keep a short diary: each evening write one good deed and your intention (1–2 sentences).
- Role-play: In class, act scenes where intentions change the goodness of an action (e.g., helping a friend vs pretending).
- ‘Intention reminder’ card: carry a small card that says “For Allah” to remind you during the day.
- Choose one weekly action (help mother, clean mosque compound, assist neighbour) and do it sincerely.
The Qur’an is the first and main source of guidance. The Hadith — sayings and actions of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) — explain the Qur’an and show how to live. Scholars check Hadith carefully (chains of narrators and truthfulness) before using them in law and guidance. So Hadith helps Muslims understand how to act correctly in daily life.
- Group discussion: Read the Hadith, then in groups list three ways intentions change actions at school.
- Pair work: One student acts out a scene with good intention, the other with bad intent; classmates guess the intention and discuss.
- Creative task: Make a poster with the Hadith and drawings showing sincere actions in school and home (use pictures of mosque, school, community work).
- Home assignment: Do one act of kindness sincerely; write a short note about your intention and what happened.
- Community link: Visit the local mosque or participate in a Harambee and reflect how intentions affected people’s behaviour.
- Think-pair-share: Give one real example of when someone does good to show off. How could they change the intention?
- Short quiz (write answers):
- 1. What does the Hadith say is most important about actions?
- 2. Give one Kenyan example of practising this Hadith.
Write 2 sentences: What will I do this week with the intention to please Allah? ________________________________
