Subtopic: Time Management (for 10-year-olds in Kenya)

What is Time Management?

Time management means planning your day so you have time for school, homework, chores, healthy food, exercise and play. Good time management helps you stay healthy and happy. โฐ๐ŸŽโšฝ

Why is it important?
  • Helps you finish homework on time and get good sleep. ๐Ÿ˜ด
  • Makes time for healthy meals and exercise. ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ
  • Reduces stress โ€” you will feel calm and confident. ๐Ÿ˜Š
  • Teaches you to be responsible and helpful at home. ๐Ÿงน
Sample weekday timetable (school day)
05:30 โ€” 06:30
Wake up, wash face, brush teeth, help prepare breakfast โ˜€๏ธ
06:30 โ€” 07:30
Eat healthy breakfast (porridge, milk, fruit) and go to school ๐Ÿฅฃ๐ŸŒ
08:00 โ€” 15:00
School lessons and break time โ€” eat a healthy lunch (e.g., rice/ugali, vegetables) ๐Ÿš๐Ÿฅฌ
15:30 โ€” 16:30
Play or exercise (football, running, skipping rope) โšฝ๐Ÿƒ
16:30 โ€” 17:30
Homework and revision โ€” do the hardest work first โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“š
18:00 โ€” 19:00
Help with light chores (fetch water if needed, sweep) and dinner ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ๐Ÿงน
19:00 โ€” 20:00
Read or quiet family time; prepare school bag for tomorrow ๐Ÿ“–๐ŸŽ’
20:00
Bedtime โ€” enough sleep helps you grow! ๐ŸŒ™
Easy tips to manage your time
  1. Make a simple timetable on paper or draw it in a notebook. Use colours for school, play, chores, sleep.
  2. Do homework soon after school while your mind is fresh. Start with the harder subjects.
  3. Break big tasks into small parts (e.g., tidy books for 10 minutes, then take a break).
  4. Set a timer or alarm on a phone or clock. When the alarm rings, switch tasks. โณ
  5. Ask your parent or guardian to help make your daily plan. Work as a team. ๐Ÿค
Choose what matters first

A good daily order: Health (eat, wash hands) โ†’ School work โ†’ Chores โ†’ Play โ†’ Sleep.

Urgent and important:
Homework due tomorrow, school project
Not urgent but important:
Daily exercise, sleep well, help at home
Fun practice (5โ€“10 minutes)

Draw your own timetable for tomorrow. Use pictures: a bowl for breakfast, a book for study, a ball for play.

Try this checklist:
