Using Prepositions to Explain the Position and Location of Objects
A preposition of place tells us where something is. Ask the question: "Where?" The answer usually has a preposition like in, on, under, next to, behind.
Common prepositions of place (easy list):
- in — inside something (in the basket)
- on — on top of something (on the table)
- under — below something (under the chair)
- next to — beside something (next to the school)
- behind — at the back of (behind the tree)
- in front of — before or facing (in front of the house)
- between — in the middle of two things
- near/by — close to something
Simple rules
