Learning objectives
  • Know that God made each child special.
  • Learn to say good things about yourself (self-awareness).
  • Practice simple activities to see your gifts and feelings.
Memory verse
"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." — Psalm 139:14 (simple words)
Short teaching (simple)

God is the Creator. He made the sun, trees, animals and you. Because God made you, you are special. Being self-aware means knowing:

  • What you like and what you do well (your gifts).
  • How you feel (happy, sad, excited).
  • How you can help others (kindness, sharing).

Example: In Kenya you might help at home, sing at church, or look after your little sister. These are signs of your gifts and caring heart.

Fun activities
  1. Mirror time: Stand in front of a mirror. Say three good things about yourself. Example: "I am kind. I can sing. I help my friend."
  2. My Tree of Gifts: Draw a tree. On the trunk write your name. On each leaf write or draw one thing you are good at (e.g., running, praying, drawing).
  3. Share at Circle time: Tell your class or family one nice thing someone said about you this week.
  4. Nature walk: Walk near your school or home. Name three things God made that you like. Thank God for them.
Draw here: "God made me" (print & draw)
(Draw a picture of yourself and three things God made that you love — like family, tree, Mt. Kenya, animals)
Reflection questions
  • What is one thing God made that makes you happy?
  • What are two good things about you?
  • How can you help someone at home or school this week?
Short prayer

Dear God, thank you for making me. Help me to see the good things in me and to be kind to others. Amen.

Notes for teacher / parent
  • Use local examples: farms, community helpers, local church songs and nature spots like a nearby hill or trees.
  • Encourage each child to speak one sentence about themselves — use a calm, praising tone.
  • Keep activities short (5–10 minutes) so 8-year-olds stay interested.
Remember
God made you special — say it, draw it, share it! 🌟
