Grade 3 CRE Creation – Family Notes
CRE — Topic: Creation
Subtopic: Family 👨👩👧👦
Age: 8 years — Kenyan context
1. What God made about family
In the Bible God made people and families. God made mother, father, children and grandparents. He also made our bigger family like aunts, uncles and cousins. God wants families to love and care for one another.
Simple Bible idea: God made us in His image (Genesis 1:27). Family is part of God’s good plan.
2. Who is in a family?
- Parents (mother and father)
- Children (younger and older brothers and sisters)
- Grandparents (grandma and grandpa)
- Aunts, uncles and cousins
- Sometimes friends or church family who care for us
3. Good things families do
- Love and forgive each other.
- Pray together and thank God.
- Help with house work and school work.
- Protect and teach children right from wrong.
- Share food and care when someone is sick.
Kenyan example: In many homes children greet elders in the morning, help fetch water and sit with grandparents to hear stories about faith.
4. Respect and obey
God teaches children to respect their parents and elders. This means listening, speaking nicely and helping at home. (See Ephesians 6:1 — "Children, obey your parents".)
5. Family and church
Church is like a big family. We worship God, learn Bible stories and help others. Many Kenyan families go to Sunday school and sing songs together.
6. Memory Verse (Short)
"Children, obey your parents." — Ephesians 6:1
7. Activities (Do in class or at home)
- Draw your family tree. Use pictures or names.
- Role-play: greet an elder and say a short prayer.
- Write 3 things you can do to help at home this week.
- Share a short story from your grandmother or grandfather about God.
8. Short Prayer
Dear God, thank you for my family. Help us to love and care for one another. Bless our parents and grandparents. Amen. 🙏
9. Questions for learners
- Who are the people in your family?
- How can you show respect at home?
- Name one way your church helps families.
Note for teachers: keep examples local — mention Kisumu, Nairobi or your county when giving stories. Use simple language and encourage sharing from home.
