CRE: Christian Values — Thankfulness 🙏
Subject: CRE | Subtopic: Thankfulness | For age: 8 years (Kenya)
What is thankfulness?
Thankfulness means being happy and saying "thank you" to God and to people. It is remembering the good things we have and showing we are grateful. 😊
Short Bible verse (Memory verse)
"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good." — Psalm 107:1 (simple)
Why we give thanks
- We thank God for life and family 👪.
- We thank God for food — e.g., ugali, rice, vegetables 🌽🍚.
- We thank God for rain and the farmers who grow our food 🌧️🚜.
- We thank teachers and friends who help us at school 🏫.
- Thankfulness makes our hearts happy and others happy too 😊.
How to show thankfulness (easy ways)
- Say thank you: "Asante Mungu" (to God) and "Asante" to people.
- Pray and tell God what you are thankful for 🙏.
- Help your parents and friends — actions show thanks.
- Make a thank-you card for someone who helped you ✉️.
Simple classroom activity
Make a "Thankful Jar": Each day, write one thing you are thankful for on a small paper and put it in the jar. After one week, open the jar and read them together. 🏺💬
Role-play (5 minutes)
Two pupils act: one gives help, the other says "Asante" or "Thank you". Swap roles. Practice saying thank you to teachers, parents and God.
Short prayer (children can say)
"Dear God, asante for my family, my school, and food. Help me to be thankful and to help others. Amen." 🙏
