What is Forgiveness? 😊

Forgiveness means saying "I forgive you" when someone has hurt you. It also means letting go of a bad feeling in your heart. God teaches us to forgive others just like He forgives us.

Why is Forgiveness Important? ❤️

  • It makes our hearts happy and peaceful.
  • It helps friends and family stay together.
  • Jesus forgave others and teaches us to forgive.
  • Forgiveness shows God’s love to others in our mtaa, school and church.

Bible Stories about Forgiveness 📖

1. The Prodigal Son (Luke 15)

A son leaves home and makes mistakes. His father welcomes him back and forgives him. This shows God forgives us when we say sorry.

2. Jesus Forgives on the Cross (Luke 23:34)

Even when people were unkind to Jesus, He prayed, "Father, forgive them." Jesus teaches us to forgive others.

How to Forgive — Easy Steps 🤝

  1. Take a deep breath and calm down.
  2. Tell God how you feel. Pray briefly.
  3. Say "I forgive you" or show it by being kind.
  4. Let go of anger — keep your heart peaceful.
  5. If you need to, talk to a teacher, parent or elder for help.

How to Ask for Forgiveness 🙏

When you make a mistake, be brave and say you are sorry. In Kenya we sometimes say "Samahani" or "Pole". You can also say, "I am sorry. Will you forgive me?"

Example:
"Samahani, I broke your pencil. Please forgive me." 😊

Memory Verse (Short)

"Be kind and forgiving to one another." — Ephesians 4:32

Fun Activities for Class or Home 🎨

  • Role play: Act a small scene where one child says sorry and the other forgives.
  • Draw: Make a "Forgiveness Heart" poster with bright colours and the memory verse.
  • Story time: Read the Prodigal Son and draw your favourite part.
  • Prayer circle: Each child says one thing they will forgive this week.

A Short Prayer for Forgiveness 🙏

"Dear God, help me to forgive others like You forgive me. Give me a kind heart and peace. Amen."

Note for teachers & parents:

Use local examples (school, mtaa, church) when you teach. Encourage children to practice saying "Samahani" and "I forgive you." Praise children when they forgive — this builds Christian character.
