Enterprise projects
Topic: Social Environment • Subject: Environmental (Kenya)
What is an enterprise project? 🤝🌱
An enterprise project is a small business you can help with. It earns a little money and helps the environment. You can do it at school, at home, or in the soko (market).
School Garden 🌿
Grow sukuma wiki (kale), spinach, carrots, and tomatoes. Children can plant seeds, water plants, and sell vegetables to mama mboga or at the soko.
Helps: less food waste + healthy food
Tree Nursery 🌳
Grow baby trees (seedlings) in small bags. Sell or plant them in the community. Choose local trees that help our land and birds.
Helps: shade, clean air and homes for birds
Recycling Crafts ♻️
Turn used bottles and paper into pens, flower pots or toys. Sell the crafts at school fairs or to neighbours.
Helps: less litter and cleaner neighbourhoods
Compost Corner 🍂
Put kitchen peels and leaves in a compost pit. After a while, you get rich soil for the garden. Sell some soil or use it to grow vegetables.
Helps: plants grow better, less rubbish
How to start — 5 easy steps 👣
  1. Ask a grown-up to help you. Always work with a teacher or parent.
  2. Choose a simple project (garden, seedlings, or crafts).
  3. Get seeds, soil, or old bottles. Use things you already have.
  4. Plant, water, or make crafts every day. Be patient and kind to plants.
  5. Sell at school or soko. Use the money to buy more seeds or share with family.
Safety and friendly tips ⚠️❤️
  • Always have an adult with you when using tools or selling things.
  • Wash your hands after touching soil or waste.
  • Use water carefully — we must save water in dry seasons.
  • Choose native trees and local vegetables that grow well in Kenya.
Little song for plants 🎵
"Water, sun, and lots of care, plants will grow and we will share!"
