Grade 7 CRE CREATION – BIBLICAL ACCOUNTS OF CREATION Notes
CRE — BIBLICAL ACCOUNTS OF CREATION
Subject: CRE (Christian Religious Education) • Topic: CREATION • Subtopic: BIBLICAL ACCOUNTS OF CREATION
Age: 12 years (Kenyan context)
What is the "Creation" account?
The Bible tells how God created everything — the world, the animals, people and everything we see. These stories help Christians understand who God is, how people began, and how we should care for the world.
Main Biblical accounts
- Genesis 1:1–2:3 — The seven-day account. God creates the world in an ordered way: light, sky, land and plants, sun & moon, animals, people, and then rests on the seventh day.
- Genesis 2:4–25 — A closer look at the creation of humans. This tells how God formed the first man (Adam) and woman (Eve) and placed them in the Garden of Eden.
- Psalm 104 — A poem praising God for his wonderful creation: mountains, rivers, animals and seasons.
- John 1:1–3 — Shows Jesus (the Word) was involved in creation: "Through him all things were made."

Important ideas children should learn
- God is the creator: Everything exists because God made it.
- Creation is ordered and good: God made things with purpose — He saw that it was good.
- People are special: Humans are made in God's image and have responsibility to care for the world.
- Rest is important: God rested on the seventh day — it teaches the value of rest and worship.
- Jesus and creation: John 1 tells us Jesus was with God during creation, showing his power and importance.
Kenyan examples to help understand
Think about our Kenyan world: Mount Kenya, Lake Victoria, the Tana River, farms and national parks. These are part of God's creation. Caring for the rivers, planting trees, and protecting wildlife are ways we follow what the Bible teaches.
Memory verse
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." — Genesis 1:1 (Easy to remember!)
Simple classroom or home activities
- Draw the seven days: Make a poster with pictures or collage for each day.
- Nature walk: Visit a local park, farm or school garden and list things you see that God created.
- Role play: Act out the seven days in groups — use simple props.
- Plant a tree: As a class, plant a tree and discuss caring for God’s creation.
Discussion questions (for class or study)
- Why do you think God created the world in order (day by day)?
- How should we look after animals and the environment in Kenya?
- What does it mean to be made in God's image?
- How can you practice a day of rest and worship like the seventh day?
