Grade 6 Christian Religious Education Creation – My Purpose Notes
Christian Religious Education
Topic: Creation — Subtopic: My Purpose
"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works." — Ephesians 2:10 (simple)
1. What does "My Purpose" mean?
"My Purpose" is the special reason God made you. It is how you live, help others, and care for creation. Everyone has a purpose — children, parents, farmers, teachers, and leaders.
2. God created you on purpose
- God made every person with care — like an artist making a picture.
- He gave each person gifts: some are kind, some are good at numbers, some sing, some are good at helping others.
- In Kenya we see purpose in many jobs: a farmer grows food, a teacher helps children learn, a nurse cares when people are sick — all show God’s plan.
Imagine you are like the picture above. God gives you "gifts" (talents and things you enjoy). These gifts help you do your purpose.
3. How can I discover my purpose?
- Pray and listen: Talk to God and ask Him to show you. Be quiet and listen.
- Use your gifts: Try activities at school, church or home. Notice what you enjoy and what helps others.
- Ask others: Teachers, parents, and church leaders can tell you what they see you doing well.
- Serve your community: Help at home, in church, or in your neighbourhood. Serving shows what matters to you.
4. Examples from life in Kenya
- A child who loves teaching younger children might become a teacher — that is part of their purpose.
- Someone good at care and comfort might become a nurse or a community helper.
- A person who protects trees and plants may be caring for God’s creation as their purpose.
5. Living out your purpose every day
You can live your purpose now, even as a pupil. Be kind, work hard, help friends, pray, and care for the environment. Little actions matter.
6. Classroom/Home Activities
- Reflection: Write 3 things you like to do and 3 ways those things can help others.
- Group work: In pairs, ask each other: "What do you think God made me good at?" Share with the class.
- Prayer activity: Pray with your class for God to help each person know and use their purpose.
- Action week: Choose one small good work (helping an elder, cleaning a school garden) and do it for a week.
God created you with a purpose. You find it by praying, using your gifts, helping others and caring for creation. Start now — small actions show big purpose.
Dear God, thank you for making me. Help me know my purpose. Show me my gifts and help me use them to help others and care for your world. Amen.
