Grade 6 Christian Religious Education The Bible – God's Power Notes
God's Power
Topic: The Bible — Subject: Christian Religious Education (Age: 11, Kenya)
1. What is God's power?
God's power means He can do anything that fits His good plan. It is stronger than storms, mountains and all the problems we face. The Bible shows many stories where God uses His power to help people.
2. Bible examples (short and easy)
- Creation: God spoke, and the world was made. (See Genesis 1)
- Moses and the Red Sea: God made the sea divide so people could walk through. (Exodus 14)
- David and Goliath: David trusted God and defeated the giant. (1 Samuel 17)
- Jesus calms the storm: Jesus told the wind and waves to be still. (Mark 4:35–41)
- Jesus raises Lazarus: God gave life back to someone who had died. (John 11)
- Pentecost: God's Spirit gave power to the early church. (Acts 2)
3. How do we see God's power in Kenya?
- When rains come and fill rivers and dams, we remember God at work.
- When a sick person gets better through prayer and God's care.
- When communities help each other and God gives strength for the work (church groups, families).
4. What God's power means for you
- You can trust God when you are afraid.
- God helps you be brave and kind to others.
- Prayer invites God's power to work in your life.
- God gives gifts (like courage or wisdom) to help you serve your family and community.
5. Short activity — "Act the Story"
- Choose one story (David & Goliath, Jesus calming the storm, or Moses).
- Use simple props: a stick for David, a blanket for a storm, a blue cloth for the sea.
- Act it out in 5 minutes. Talk about how God's power helped the people.
6. Drawing and prayer time
Draw a picture of one thing that shows God's power to you (a big mountain, a strong tree, or a calm sea after a storm). Then write a short prayer asking God to help you trust Him.
7. Quick quiz (True or False)
- 1. God can do anything. (True)
- 2. God's power never helps people. (False)
- 3. We should trust God when we are afraid. (True)
8. Simple closing prayer
Dear God, thank you for your great power. Help me trust you when I am afraid. Give me courage to help others. Amen.
