Topic: The Life of Jesus Christ
Subtopic: The Kingdom of God

What is the Kingdom of God?

The Kingdom of God means God's rule and love. It is where people live the way God wants — showing love, peace and justice. Jesus taught that the Kingdom is both already here (in people's hearts and actions) and not fully finished yet (it will be complete when Jesus returns).

Bible examples (simple)

  • Mustard seed (Matthew 13:31–32) — a very small seed grows into a big plant. The Kingdom starts small but grows big.
  • Yeast (Matthew 13:33) — a little yeast changes the whole dough. God's rule changes people's lives.
  • Good Shepherd (Luke 15:3–7) — God cares for each person, like a shepherd cares for sheep.

How Jesus described who belongs to the Kingdom

  • Those who are humble and childlike (Matthew 18:3).
  • People who love God and love others (Matthew 22:37–39).
  • Those who forgive, show mercy, and help the poor (Matthew 5–7: Sermon on the Mount).

Kingdom: Now and Not Yet (short)

Now

People show God's rule by loving, helping, and praying. The Church and families work for God's ways in Kenya — in school, home and community.

Not Yet

One day God's Kingdom will be fully perfect — no more pain or sadness (Revelation 21:4).

How can you live as a citizen of God's Kingdom?

  1. Be kind to friends and classmates — share and help.
  2. Respect parents, teachers and leaders (showing love and obedience).
  3. Forgive someone who hurts you.
  4. Pray for others and for peace in your community and Kenya.

Memory Verse

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” — Matthew 6:33 (simple)

Try to learn these words this week. Say them when you pray.

Class activity (5–10 minutes)

Draw the mustard seed growing: on one side draw a tiny seed, then a small sprout, then a big plant. Around the plant write three things you can do this week to show God's Kingdom (e.g., help sibling, say sorry, share food).

Questions to check understanding

  • What is one way you can show the Kingdom of God at home?
  • Which parable shows that the Kingdom starts small but grows?
  • Is the Kingdom of God only in the future, only now, or both? Explain in one sentence.

Short prayer (for class)

Dear Jesus, help us to live in your Kingdom. Teach us to love, forgive and help others. Make our homes and schools peaceful. Amen.
