CRE: Christian Living
Subtopic: God — The Source of Life
Learning Objectives
- Know that God is the giver of life for people, animals and plants.
- Recall a simple Bible verse about life from God.
- Show how to care for life as a way of living like Jesus taught.
Bible Verses to Remember
Genesis 2:7 (simple): "God made man and put breath in him — that is life."
John 1:4 (simple): "In Jesus was life, and this life gave light to people."
Memory Verse (short): "In him was life." — John 1:4
What does "God the Source of Life" mean?
- God created life — people, animals and plants. He gives life to all living things. ☀️🌱🐘
- God keeps life going. He gives food, rain, air and sunlight so things can grow.
- Because God is the source of life, every life is important and must be treated with love and care.
Short Bible story (easy)
In the Bible, God made the first man (Adam). God breathed into Adam and he became alive. This shows that life comes from God. Jesus also said that he brings life, and he brings light to our hearts. We can thank God for life every day.
Examples for Kenyan life
- When rains come, farmers plant maize and it grows — God provides rain and helps life grow. 🌧️🌽
- Children and parents at home: God gives families life and love. Say thank you to God for your mama, baba and friends. 👨👩👧👦
- Animals in the park: elephants, giraffes and birds are also created and loved by God — we must protect them. 🐘🦒
Living like Jesus — Practical ways
- Respect life: Do not hurt others or animals. Be kind and gentle.
- Care for creation: Plant trees, avoid littering and save water (turn off taps). 🌳💧
- Share food and help the poor — this shows God’s love for life.
- Pray and give thanks for life every day.
Class & Home Activities
- Planting seed: Plant a bean in a cup. Watch how God helps it grow. Write three things it needs to live.
- Draw & colour: Draw a picture of things that show life — sun, tree, child, animal. Label them.
- Role play: Act out giving water, food or medicine to someone in need. Talk about why life matters.
- Memory verse game: Practice "In him was life." Say it with a clap after each word.
Short Questions (answer in class or at home)
- Where does life come from? (One sentence)
- Name two things living things need to grow.
- How can you show care for life at home or school?
- Write the memory verse: ___________________
A Short Prayer
Dear God, thank you for life. Thank you for family, food, animals and plants. Help us to care for life and love others as you love us. Amen. 🙏
