CRE: The Church

Subtopic: The Role of the Holy Spirit

What is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is God. He is part of God like the Father and the Son (Jesus). He helps and stays with people who love Jesus.

How the Holy Spirit helps the Church (easy words):
  • Guide & Teacher πŸ’‘ β€” He shows the way and helps us understand God's words.
  • Comforter & Helper ❀️ β€” He comforts people who are sad or afraid.
  • Giver of Gifts 🎁 β€” He gives different abilities to people for serving in church (singing, helping, teaching).
  • Gives Courage 🦁 β€” He helps church members be brave to tell others about Jesus.
  • Unites the Church 🀝 β€” He brings people together from different tribes and places in Kenya.
  • Makes Christian Fruit (good attitudes) 🍎 β€” He helps us show love, joy, peace and more.
Bible examples (short):

- Acts 2: The Holy Spirit came at Pentecost and made the church strong.
- John 14:16–17: Jesus said He would send the Helper (the Holy Spirit).
- Galatians 5:22–23: The fruit of the Spirit lists good qualities.

Simple prayer for children

Dear Holy Spirit, thank you for being my helper. Teach me to love, be brave and help others. Amen.

Teacher's note: Use this page for a 15–20 minute lesson. Include a short song, the drawing activity and the memory verse. Relate examples to local life (church choir, Sunday school, Harambe’e) so children understand how the Holy Spirit works in Kenya.
