Learning Objectives

- Learn simple ways to keep unity at home, school and church.
What is Family Unity?
Family unity means the family stays together in love, peace and care. Members help one another, forgive, respect elders and work as a team.
Why God gave us families (Bible basis)
- Genesis 1:27–28 — God made people in His image and told them to live and fill the earth (start of families).
- Genesis 2:18, 24 — God said it is not good for man to be alone and gave the family so people can love each other and become one.
- Mark 12:31 — Jesus taught us to love our neighbor. We must also love our family first.
Importance of Family Unity
- Provides safety and care for children.
- Teaches right from wrong and Christian values.
- Helps during sad or happy times — we share and support each other.
- Shows God’s love to the world when families live together in peace.
Ways to keep Family Unity (Simple Steps)
- Love each other: Say kind words and show care (hugs, smile).
- Respect elders: Listen to parents and grandparents; greet them (e.g., "Shikamoo" / "Mama/Sir").
- Share work: Help with chores — fetch water, sweep, set the table.
- Forgive quickly: Say sorry and forgive when someone hurts you.
- Pray together: Thank God and ask for help as a family.
- Eat together: Meals are a good time to talk and laugh together.
Roles in the Family
Everyone has a part to play:
- Parents/Guardians: Care for, teach, protect and pray for children.
- Children: Obey parents, help at home, respect elders and learn good Christian behaviour.
- Church and community: Support families by teaching and helping where needed.
Class Activity & Simple Home Craft
Make a Family Tree:
- On a paper, draw a big tree trunk and branches.
- Write names of family members on leaves (parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents).
- Decorate and under each name write one kind thing you will do for them this week.
Memory Verse
"Be kind and loving to one another, forgiving each other, just as God forgave you." — Ephesians 4:32 (simple paraphrase)
