CRE Notes — The Bible

Subtopic: God's Protection | For Class & Age: 10 years | Kenya
Learning objectives:
  • Understand what God’s protection means.
  • Know simple Bible stories that show God protecting people.
  • Learn how God protects us today in families and communities in Kenya.

What is God's protection?

God’s protection means God keeps people safe, helps them in danger, and gives care and courage. God protects in different ways — by giving peace, using other people to help us and by guiding our steps. Think of God like a kind shepherd who watches over his sheep.

Stories from the Bible

  • David and Goliath: God gave David courage to face a big problem and He helped him win.
  • Daniel in the lion’s den: God kept Daniel safe when he was alone with lions.
  • Noah’s Ark: God protected Noah, his family and animals during the great flood.
These stories show that God cares and acts to keep His people safe.

How God protects us today (Everyday Kenyan life)

God often protects us by using people and things around us:

  • Parents and guardians: Mama and Baba keep children safe at home and teach good rules.
  • Teachers and neighbours: Teachers protect children at school. Neighbours and leaders (chief, elders) help in the community.
  • Police and ambulance: They help when there is danger or a road accident.
  • Church and Sunday school: Leaders pray and look after children; the church family supports each other.
  • God’s guidance: Through prayer and the Bible, God gives wisdom to make safe choices.
Short prayer for protection

"Dear God, thank you for keeping me safe today. Help me to be brave and to trust You. Amen."

Memory thought

"God cares for me like a shepherd cares for his sheep."

Classroom / Home activities

  1. Draw a shield: In the middle write names of people who help protect you (e.g., Mama, Baba, teacher).
  2. Role-play: Act out Daniel in the lion’s den or David and Goliath with simple props.
  3. Memory game: Learn the memory thought and say it each morning before school.
  4. Community map: Make a small map showing safe places (home, school, church, police post).
Think and answer
  • Who are three people that help keep you safe?
  • Which Bible story about protection do you like most and why?
  • What should you do if you feel unsafe at home or at school?
Tip: Always tell a trusted adult if you are scared or in danger. God uses people to help keep you safe.
