Grade 5 CRE The Bible – Worship Of True God Notes
CRE Notes — The Bible
Subtopic: Worship of the True God
These notes help learners aged about 10 years in Kenya understand how we worship the one true God. Worship means honouring and giving thanks to God. We can worship God at church, at home, at school or anywhere in our daily life.
Learning Goals
- Know what true worship is.
- Learn simple ways to worship God at home, school and church.
- Understand why God wants worship to be from the heart (not only outward actions).
What is True Worship?
True worship means loving God with your whole heart and obeying him. It is not only singing or praying, but living in a way that pleases God. Jesus taught that God wants people to worship "in spirit and in truth" (John 4:24). This means being honest and loving, not pretending.
Ways to Worship the True God
- Prayer: Talk to God every day. You can pray before school, at mealtimes and at night. 🙏
- Reading the Bible: Learn from the Bible stories, for example David, Samuel and Jesus. Read short verses each day. 📖
- Singing and praising: Sing songs at church and in Sunday school. Praise helps our hearts turn to God. 🎶
- Helping others: Serving neighbours, sharing food, and being kind is true worship. (Matthew 25:35–40 idea)
- Obeying parents and teachers: This shows we honour God by doing what is right at home and in school. ❤️
- Giving: Give time, small offerings, or help those in need as part of worship.
Why Worship Matters
Worship helps us know God better, grow in faith, and live good lives. It brings peace and unity in families and communities. In Kenya, many families worship together at church or in their homes during family devotions.
Short Memory Verse
John 4:24 — "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." (Try to learn the words, or ask your teacher for a child-friendly translation.)
Class Activities (Easy & Fun)
- Role-play: In pairs, practice a short prayer and a way to help a friend — discuss how that is worship.
- Drawing: Draw a picture of your family worshipping at home or at church.
- Song Time: Learn a short worship chorus in Sunday school and sing it together.
- Good Deed Chart: For one week, write one kind thing you did that was worship to God.
