CRE Notes — Creation

Subtopic: The Fall of Human Beings

1. Short Story (in simple words)

God made the first man and woman — Adam and Eve — and put them in a beautiful garden called Eden. They could eat from any tree except one tree which God told them not to eat from.

A crafty serpent (snake) tricked Eve. She ate the fruit and gave some to Adam. They disobeyed God. Because of their disobedience, bad things entered the world: shame, suffering, hard work and eventually death. God still cared for them but they had to leave the garden.

Emojis to help remember: 🍎 (for the fruit), 🐍 (serpent), ✝️ (God's promise of help)

2. Main Characters

  • God — the Creator who made everything.
  • Adam & Eve — first man and woman.
  • Serpent — tempted Eve to disobey.

3. What is the "Fall"?

The Fall means when humans first disobeyed God. This is called sin. Because of that, people stopped living the way God wanted and the world began to have problems.

4. Results of the Fall (simple to remember)

  • Separation from God (feeling far from God)
  • Shame and hiding from each other
  • Suffering and hard work (food and life became difficult)
  • Death—people no longer live forever

5. What this means for us (kids in Kenya)

  • We may feel tempted to do wrong, like lying or stealing.
  • We learn to obey God and our parents to avoid trouble.
  • We should show kindness to others because everyone can make mistakes.

6. Good News — God’s Love

Even though people sinned, God promised help and a way back to Him. Christians believe God sent Jesus to heal our relationship with God. God forgives when we are sorry and stop doing wrong.

Symbol: ✝️ = God’s promise of rescue

7. Key Words (with easy meaning)

  • Sin — doing what God says is wrong.
  • Disobedience — not following God’s commands.
  • Repentance — saying sorry to God and trying to change.
  • Forgiveness — God (and people) letting go of the wrong done.

8. Memory Verse

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." — Romans 3:23

(Short version to learn: "All have sinned." — Romans 3:23)

9. Class / Home Activities

  1. Draw the Garden of Eden — label Adam, Eve, the tree, the serpent.
  2. Role-play: one child is Adam, one is Eve, one is the serpent. Discuss choices.
  3. Talk about a time you chose wrongly and how saying sorry helped.
  4. Sing a simple song about God’s love and forgiveness in your class or church.

10. Questions for Discussion (Sunday school / Class)

  • Why did Adam and Eve hide from God?
  • How can we avoid temptation at school or at home?
  • What should we do when we realize we have done something wrong?

11. Short Prayer (for kids)

Dear God, thank you for making us and for loving us. Help us to obey you, to say sorry when we do wrong, and to forgive others. Amen.
