Subject: CRE — Topic: Creation

Age: 7 years (Kenyan children)

Learning goals

  • Know some simple chores you can do at home.
  • Understand that helping at home can be a way to serve God and care for His creation.
  • Learn a short prayer to thank God for the chance to help.

A Bible verse to remember

Colossians 3:23 (easy): "Do your work with all your heart, as for the Lord." — This means doing chores with love for God.

What are safe chores for you?

  • 🧹 Sweeping the house or the compound — keeps our home clean.
  • 🛏️ Making your bed — keeps things tidy.
  • 🍽️ Helping to wash plates or drying them (with an adult) — helps the family.
  • 🌱 Watering plants or the kitchen garden — caring for God's plants.
  • 🥣 Setting the table — shows love to family at mealtime.
  • 🐐 Feeding small animals like chickens (if you are taught) — care for God's creatures.
  • 🚰 Helping to fetch water with an adult (if needed) — be safe and ask grown-ups.
  • 🗑️ Putting rubbish in a bin — helps keep the earth clean.
  • 🤝 Helping a younger brother or sister put on shoes or tidy toys — shows kindness.

How doing chores is serving God

  • When we care for our home and the earth, we take care of God's creation.
  • Helping shows love to our family — Jesus taught us to love others.
  • Doing chores responsibly is obeying and respecting parents, which pleases God.
  • Working with a cheerful heart is like giving God a gift (Colossians 3:23).
Quick safety note: Always ask an adult before doing chores that need tools, hot water, or going far from home.

A short prayer

Dear God, thank you for my home and family. Help me to help at home with a happy heart. Teach me to care for Your creation. Amen. 🙏

Class activity (simple)

Make a sticker chart:

  1. Write 5 small chores on paper (one per day).
  2. When you do a chore, put a sticker or draw a star.
  3. At the end of the week, share with the class how you served God by helping.

Questions to think about or discuss

  • Which chore do you like to do and why?
  • How does helping at home show love to God and people?
  • Name one way to care for creation at home (e.g., watering plants, picking up trash).
Keep helping with a happy heart — small hands can do big things for God and our world! 🌍
