Grade 2 CRE The Early Life Of Jesus Christ – The Birth Of Jesus Christ Notes
CRE — The Early Life of Jesus Christ
Subtopic: The Birth of Jesus Christ ✨
For Class 1–3 (age 7) — Simple, short and easy to remember
The Story — Simple Steps
- Angel Gabriel visits Mary 👼
Gabriel told Mary that she would have a baby boy. The baby would be called Jesus. - Joseph stays kind and loving 🤝
Joseph, who was Mary's husband, took care of Mary and the baby. - They travel to Bethlehem 🐪
Mary and Joseph had to go to Bethlehem for a count. There were many people there. - No room in the house — a stable 🏚️
There was no room in the guest-room. Jesus was born in a small stable and was laid in a manger (a feeding box for animals). - Shepherds hear the good news 🐑🎶
Angels told shepherds about Jesus' birth. The shepherds went to see the baby and praised God. - Wise men followed a star ⭐
Wise men from far away followed a bright star and brought gifts to Jesus.
What this means for us
- God kept His promise to send a Saviour.
- Jesus was born humbly — in a stable — to show love and care for everyone.
- We should be kind, share with others and praise God like the shepherds and wise men.
Memory Verse
"Today a Saviour has been born to you." — Luke 2:11 (short)
Short Prayer
Dear God, thank you for Jesus. Help us to love like Him and care for other people. Amen.
Fun Activities (Classroom / Home)
- Role play: Act out the story — one plays Mary, one Joseph, shepherds, and wise men.
- Colouring: Draw the stable and colour the star and animals.
- Make a paper star: Cut and decorate a star to remember the wise men.
- Sing: Learn a short Christmas carol and sing it at church or school.
In Kenya
Many churches in Kenya remember Jesus' birth at Christmas. Families meet, sing hymns, share food and help those in need. You can share with a friend or give to a local charity to show Jesus' love.
Tip: Ask your teacher to help you write the memory verse in your CRE book and practice it each day.
