Subtopic: My Relatives ๐ช
God made people and families. Relatives are the people in your family. They love you, care for you and teach you about God.
Who are relatives? (Who is in a family)
- Parents โ Mama and Baba (mother and father) ๐ฉโ๐ฆโ๐ฆ
- Grandparents โ Bibi and Babu (grandmother and grandfather) ๐ต๐ด
- Siblings โ Dada and Kaka (sister and brother) ๐ซ
- Aunts and Uncles โ Shangazi, Mjomba (aunt and uncle) ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ
- Cousins โ Binamu (children of your aunts and uncles) ๐ง๐ง
God and family (simple)
The Bible tells us that God made the first family. He gave people parents and relatives so we can love one another.
Memory verse: "Honour your father and mother." โ Ephesians 6:2
Swahili: "Heshimu baba yako na mama yako." (Say: He-shee-moo ba-ba ya-ko na ma-ma ya-ko)
Why relatives are important
- They love and protect you โค๏ธ
- They teach you good things (prayers, stories from the Bible) ๐
- They help when you are sick or sad ๐ค
- They celebrate with you at happy times ๐
How to care for relatives (easy ways)
- Greet elders politely โ say "Shikamoo" to grandparents and older people; they answer "Marahaba" ๐
- Help at home โ sweep, fetch water, share chores ๐งน
- Be kind โ share toys and say kind words ๐
- Pray and thank God for your family โ say a short prayer each day ๐
Activity โ Draw your family tree
Draw a tree on paper. Write your name at the bottom. Add parents, siblings, grandparents and cousins. Put an emoji or a small drawing for each person. Example:

Short prayer (say with teacher or parent)
"Dear God, thank you for my family. Help me to love and obey them. Amen." ๐

Teacher tip: Ask pupils to bring a small picture of one relative and tell the class one good thing about them.
