Grade 4 CRE Christian Values – Obedience At Home Notes
CRE Notes — Christian Values
Subtopic: Obedience at Home (Age 9, Kenya)
Obedience means listening to your parents, guardians and elders and doing what they tell you to do. It shows love and respect. ✅🙏🏾
"Children, obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord." — Ephesians 6:1 (paraphrase)
Say it aloud three times and try to remember it each day.- It keeps you safe (rules keep danger away).
- It shows respect to parents and God.
- It helps your family work well together.
- It builds good habits for school and life.
Obedience pleases God. Jesus teaches us to love and honour others. When we obey, we show Christian love. ✝️❤️
- Greet elders politely — "Shikamoo" / "Good morning". 👋🏾
- Help with small chores: sweep the floor, set the table, wash dishes. 🧹🍽️
- Prepare your school bag and uniform the night before. 🎒
- Listen to rules about safety — e.g., not playing near busy roads, not going with strangers. 🚸
- Finish homework on time and follow parents' advice about studies. 📚
- Share and help siblings when asked. 🤝
Mama asks you to fetch a cup of water. You say, "Okay," and fetch it quickly. You smile and say, "Here you go!" 😊
Papa asks you to tidy the room. You ignore him and play instead. This makes Papa sad and causes trouble. 😕
Make a chart with days of the week. Put a sticker (⭐) each time you obey a helpful rule. If you get 10 stars, you get a small reward (extra story time, a small treat).
Parent: "Please wash your plate now."
Child (obedient): "Yes, I will wash it now." (Washes plate and smiles)
Discuss: How did the parent feel? How did the child feel?
Dear God, help me to obey my parents and do what is right. Give me a kind heart and help my family. Amen. 🙏🏾
- Why is it good to obey our parents?
- What can you do today to show obedience at home?
- How does obeying help your family and please God?
Remember: Obedience is love in action. When you obey at home, you make God, your parents and yourself happy. 🌟🏠
