Subtopic: People I Can Trust At Home And In School

Today we learn who we can trust at home and at school. Trust means we can talk to them, they keep us safe, and they help us when we are worried. πŸ™πŸ πŸ«

People I can trust at home
  • My parents or guardians (mum, dad, or the person who cares for me)
  • Older brothers or sisters who are kind and look after me
  • Grandparents, aunties and uncles who are part of my family
  • My church pastor or Sunday school teacher when they are caring and honest
  • Neighbour known by the family (only if my parents say it’s OK)
People I can trust at school
  • My class teacher and any other teacher who cares for us πŸ‘©β€πŸ«πŸ‘¨β€πŸ«
  • The headteacher or deputy headteacher
  • The school counsellor (if there is one) or matron/clinic person
  • Kind prefects or older pupils who protect and do not bully
  • School pastor or chaplain who helps children

How to know someone is trustworthy

  • They listen to me and do not laugh at my problems βœ…
  • They tell the truth and keep promises βœ…
  • They help me when I am in danger or sad βœ…
  • They do not force me to keep secrets that make me unhappy ❌

What to do if I feel unsafe or worried

  1. Tell a trusted person at home or at school right away.
  2. If the person near you is not helpful, tell another trusted adult.
  3. Go to a safe place (classroom with teacher, school office, church member).
  4. Do not keep a dangerous secret β€” secrets that make you scared should be told.
  5. If you are in danger, go to another adult, the nearest police station or use your local emergency number.
Memory verse (easy)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart." β€” Proverbs 3:5 (simple words: We can trust God to help us.)

Short Prayer

Dear Lord, thank you for parents, teachers and friends who care for us. Please help us to know who to trust and keep all children safe. Amen. πŸ™

Classroom Activities (easy and fun)

  • Draw your Trust Tree: Draw a tree and write names of people you trust on the branches. Colour it. 🌳
  • Role play: In pairs, practise telling a teacher you are hurt or scared. One is the child, one is the teacher.
  • Trust Card: Make a card with 3 trusted people and put it inside your school diary.

Questions for learners

  1. Name three people you can trust at home and three at school.
  2. What will you do if a stranger asks you to go with them?
  3. Why is it wrong to keep secrets that make you feel scared?

Remember: A trusted person is kind, listens, helps and keeps you safe. When you are not sure, ask God and tell a trusted adult. You are not alone. 😊

Note for teachers/parents:

Use local examples familiar to your learners. Encourage children to add a contact list of trusted adults (names and where to find them) in their school diary.
