Holiness

Subtopic: The Meaning of Holiness ✨

What is "holiness"?

Holiness means being special and pure for God. God is holy — He is good, pure, and does what is right. When we try to be holy, we try to be like God by doing good things and avoiding bad things.

Easy definition for age 9:

To be holy means to love God, be kind, say sorry when we do wrong, and choose what is right.

Why God is called Holy

  • God is perfect and never does wrong.
  • God is set apart — He is the best and different from everything else.
  • Bible says: "Be holy, because I am holy." (Leviticus 19:2)

How we can show holiness (simple ways)

  • Pray to God and sing praises 🙏
  • Tell the truth and do not cheat at school ✅
  • Be kind to friends and help those in need 🤝
  • Say sorry when you hurt someone and forgive others ♥️
  • Keep your body and clothes clean and neat (respecting God) ✨
  • Go to church and learn from the Bible with your family
✝️

  2. Role-play: practise saying sorry and forgiving a friend.
  3. Write three kind things you will do this week to be holy.

Questions to think about

  • What is one kind thing you did today?
  • How can you show holiness at school?
  • Who can you help this week to show God's love?
Short Prayer

Dear God, help me to be holy. Teach me to be kind, honest and to love others. Amen. 🙏
