Grade 4 CRE The Holy Bible β Respect For The Holy Bible Notes
CRE Notes: The Holy Bible
Subtopic: Respect For The Holy Bible β for learners aged 9 (Kenya)
1. What is the Bible? π
The Bible is Godβs special book. It tells us about God, Jesus, and how to live. Christians read it in church, at Sunday school, and at home. In Kenya we may use English or Kiswahili Bibles when we learn God's word.
2. Why we must respect the Bible βοΈ
- The Bible is Godβs message to us.
- It helps us know what is right and wrong.
- Showing respect honours God and our church.
3. How to show respect (Do's) β
- Hold the Bible carefully with clean hands.
- Keep it on a table or a high shelf, not on the floor.
- Use a clean cloth or cover to protect the Bible.
- Listen quietly when someone reads from the Bible in church or class.
- Pray before and after reading to ask God to help you understand.
- Share verses you learn with your family or friends.
4. Things not to do (Don'ts) β
- Donβt throw the Bible or put it on the floor.
- Donβt use the Bible as a mat, bag, or a place to write messy notes.
- Donβt tear pages or scribble badly in the Bible (neat notes or a bookmark are okay).
- Donβt treat the Bible like an ordinary book β show it special care.
5. Short activities for class or at home βοΈπ¨
- Make a Bible cover: Use an old clean cloth and decorate with safe paints or stickers. This keeps the Bible clean.
- Role play: In pairs, practice what to do when the Bible is read in church β stand quietly, listen, and sit down carefully.
- Memory verse game: Each child says one word of the verse in turn until the whole verse is said.
Memory Verse (easy):
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." β Psalm 119:105
Kiswahili: "Neno lako ni taa mguuni pangu, na mwanga kwa njia yangu." β Zaburi 119:105
6. A short prayer before reading π
"Dear God, please help me to understand Your words. Help me to love and respect the Bible. Amen."
7. Quick class quiz (talk about answers)
