CRE Notes β€” Holiness

Subtopic: The Temple of the Holy Spirit

God lives inside every person who believes in Jesus. The Bible calls our body a "temple" (a special place) for the Holy Spirit. This means God is with us, and we should live in ways that please Him.

Simple meaning: Your body is like a small church where God lives. Keep it clean, kind and holy.

Bible verse (easy)

"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you?" β€” 1 Corinthians 6:19 (simple words)

Key points to remember

  • God's Spirit lives in believers. We are not alone.
  • Being holy means choosing what pleases God β€” like being honest and kind.
  • We protect the temple by keeping our body healthy and our heart kind.
  • Sin (wrong choices) hurts our friendship with God. We should say sorry and ask God to help us.
  • We show God we love Him by praying, reading the Bible, singing and obeying parents and teachers.

Examples from our daily life (Kenyan context)

  • Helping at home: sweeping for mama and respecting elders shows holiness.
  • At school: telling the truth and sharing with classmates shows the Holy Spirit inside you.
  • In church: praying and listening carefully helps your heart stay close to God.
  • When angry: pray and breathe, don’t shout or fight β€” this protects your temple.

Activity ideas (for class or at home)

  1. Make a "Temple Heart" craft: cut a big paper heart and write words inside it β€” Prayer, Kind, Honest, Help β€” then decorate.
  2. Draw two pictures: one of a heart filled with good things (prayer, Bible, friends) and one with bad things (lies, fighting). Talk about the differences.
  3. Memory verse game: say the verse together and clap for every word you remember.

Questions to answer (short)

  1. What does it mean when we say your body is a "temple"?
  2. Name two ways you can keep your temple holy at home.
  3. Who lives in the temple? (Hint: 1 Corinthians)
  4. What should you do if you make a wrong choice?
Memory Verse (say it every day):
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit?" β€” 1 Corinthians 6:19

Short prayer

Dear God, thank you for living in my heart. Help me to be kind, honest and to obey you. Please forgive me when I do wrong and help me make good choices. Amen.
