Revenge means trying to hurt someone because they hurt you. It can be with words, actions or not being kind. 😠➡️😢
What Jesus taught about revenge
- “Turn the other cheek.” (Matthew 5:39) — Do not fight back when someone hurts you.
- “Love your enemies.” (Matthew 5:44) — Be kind even to those who are mean.
- Forgive others. (Mark 11:25) — Let go of anger and say sorry or accept an apology.
- Do good to people who hurt you. (Luke 6:27) — Surprise them with kindness.
Why revenge is not good
- It makes fights bigger and longer.
- It hurts our heart and makes us sad.
- It breaks friendships and family peace.
- God wants us to be peacemakers, not fighters.
What to do instead of revenge
- Stay calm and count to ten. 😊
- Tell a teacher, parent or guardian about the problem.
- Say how you feel in a kind way: “I felt sad when you did that.”
- Forgive the person and pray for them. 🙏
- If someone keeps hurting you, ask an adult to help keep you safe.
School and home examples
School: If a classmate pushes you, you can tell a teacher and try to play elsewhere, then forgive when it is safe.
Home: If a sister breaks your toy, talk to her and ask her to say sorry or help fix it instead of hiding her things.
- Role play: One child pretends to be angry and the other practices a calm reply. Swap roles.
- Drawing: Draw a happy scene after forgiveness. Add the words: “I forgive.”
